About Us
D.A.A.N. (Drug and Alcohol Awareness Network) is a non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit organisation founded in 2012. We aim to help struggling communities worldwide, specialising in drug and alcohol awareness.
Our organisation is made up of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, helping us to draw on several fields of expertise and experience. We are fortunate enough to have support across the globe; in the UK, India, Australia and Canada, and are always happy to hear from new volunteers! |

Our first camp was held early in 2013 and was based in Punjab. This has involved holding a camp in the Nawanshahr area. Information was conveyed to the children and young people through talks, presentations, workshops, and guest speakers. We also improved educational facilities (basic classroom facilities, computers, projectors etc) and sports facilities for all ages and genders for local villages.
Due to the large number of volunteers with medical backgrounds, we also ran health camps alongside the other sessions - these included cholesterol checks, eye tests, diabetes checks, blood pressure monitoring and basic First Aid training.
Our second camp was held in April 2014 in Kapurthala, Punjab, with similar goals in mind, and was received just as well as the first camp.
Our third camp was held in 2 locations: Kot Badal Khan and Seechewal. We aim to get as much outreach as possible and hope to expand to multiple camps throughout the year.
We hold annual camps in March/April every year.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to volunteer your time. We would openly welcome any help and expertise you have to offer.
We also hold regular fundraisers throughout the year in order to help support these projects as best we can. Please go the calendar page for more details.
In the future, we hope to expand our services to different locations once the initial projects have become established.
We lay heavy emphasis on aversion from drug and alcohol abuse and we believe that begins at a young age.
"Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate."
